FAQs

Why do I offer two different session lengths for individual therapy?

This essentially comes down to different treatment needs or the use of different modalities: Some issues (like crisis counseling, trauma work, or couple’s therapy) may require longer sessions. Others may only need a shorter time.

  • Modality of therapy: Different therapeutic approaches have different time norms. For example:

    • Traditional talk therapy: Often 50 minutes (a “therapeutic hour”).

    • Couple’s Therapy, somatic therapies, or intensive trauma work: May need 75 – 90 minutes.

*These times are only used for self-pay cients. For insurance-paid appointments, I am only able to bill for 60-minute sessions.

Do I accept insurance?

I currently accept Aetna, BCBS (for Texas residents only), and Optum/United Health.

What is my cancellation policy?

I have a 24-hr cancellation policy and will charge the full session fee if a cancellation happens within this window. I will wave the cancellation fee if the session is rescheduled within the same week.
