What is attachment-based therapy?
My overall approach to therapy is eclectic and tailored personally to clients’ needs. However, all my work is grounded in Attachment Theory and is aimed at healing attachment wounds.
Attachment-based therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals understand, heal, and improve the ways they form emotional bonds and relationships — particularly those shaped by early experiences with caregivers.
At its core, this therapy is grounded in attachment theory, which suggests that the quality of our early attachment relationships (especially with parents or primary caregivers) significantly influences how we relate to others and ourselves throughout life.
In my work, I intentionally create a safe, attuned, and consistent relationship that mirrors a secure attachment. This "corrective emotional experience" can help clients:
Learn to trust
Regulate emotions
Develop a stronger sense of self
Heal relational wounds

Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, I work one-on-one with clients to develop increased insight into their attachment patterns. We often spend time processing strong feelings that have been locked away from our conscious, day-to-day thoughts. These deep emotions are usually related to our early relational experiences. Whether they developed as a result of interactions with caregivers or others, they often reflect ways we currently experience stuckness in relationships with ourselves and others.
This work is usually slow and carries long-lasting results. Individual sessions with me are 55 minutes or longer and allow for blending somatic work, inner child work, and aspects of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Finally, individual therapy typically occurs on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis depending on the therapeutic needs of the client.

Couples Therapy
Maybe you and your partner end up hashing out the same conflict over and over. Or maybe there is a feeling of lost connection between the two of you. My goal in couple’s therapy is to help you both slow down enough to get in touch with what’s actually underneath your repetitive conflicts or lack of connection with each other.
We are wired for love, yet our relationships can be our biggest challenges and greatest teachers. My goal as an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist is to help the relational learning process unfold more fluidly for you and your partner. With my help, you’ll begin to get in touch with feelings and needs that underlie the issues you’re experiencing as a couple. From there, couples therapy can provide you with a safe space to practice communicating, trusting, and truly hearing each other again.
Couples therapy usually takes 8 – 26 sessions depending on the progress made in repairing conflict.
